Smile LTCF in York county. Pa.

Hi everyone, had a question about getting a LTCF in York Co. I moved up here 2 years ago from Maryland, and it`s a new experience for me, after the LEO`s in Maryland telling me NO! no way, no how, for a LTCF. Up here it`s different world to me, "for the better!" should have moved up here sooner, Question!, is it as easy as some say to get a permit in York Co, I do have a clean record, not even a point on my license, not braggin, just proud thats all. I heard some say you get it the same day, others say 2-3 weeks, either way it`s better than Maryland... Thanks guys, hope to hear from you soon, Gene...

Just go to the courthouse in york. Fill out the paperwork and most likely the next day.... go pick it up.

You can mail it in but some people say this may delay it.

Can't speak for York Co. specifically, but you shouldn't have any problem.

Application & details are here if you don't already know.

Apparently they do check with your employer though and do check references according to the sheriff's site. Some counties do not check references and most do not check with your employer. But other than that you should be fine.

Congrats for getting the **** out of Maryland

Hmmmm. Maybe they say that to try and scare away some people from applying??

You can also fill it out online, print and mail. There is a form to request a phone call or e-mail when it's ready. I mailed mine on a Monday and got a call that Wednesday that it was ready .

They will tell you to wait 2 weeks before calling, but its ready long before that. I got mine under the last sheriff, ( Hose ), I don't know anything about the present one, but he should be alright. I haven't heard anything bad about him yet.

I went down on a Friday afternoon to turn in my paperwork and got a call 8:30am Monday morning to come pick it up. (Feb. of this year)

I also had a good experience with a Deputy there. I had a small pen knife in my pocket(they make you empty your pockets when you enter the metal detector) and was getting ready to take it back to my car when she asked what I needed at the Courthouse. I replied that I was applying for my LTCF and she got me a form. They had some on a counter by the metal detectors. I walked back to my car and put my knife away and filled out the form and went back in and dropped it off. It seems like they know what they are doing there and do not give you any hassles as long as you are squared away. Good Luck.
