they could be, i suppose. but that would suck for us in PA.

the requirements would certainly be more stringent that the current requirements in PA.

and any requirements at all are, imho, a violation of the PA constitution, so...

I agree that requirements are not palatable, but I am trying to think of a way that would satisfy other municipalities or states so that when one travles (I live near philly, have family in NJ, my wife works at Cooper in Camden and gets called in in the middle of the night, and have family in MD) there was a way that allowed them to carry anywhere in the US once they are licensed in one location. I think the licensing process is bogus to begin with, but since it is the reality we must operate under let's try to figure out a way to benefit from it more than we do now.

The problem with this is that some states are less free than others, so... if you want to have "maximum reciprocity" then adding training would help us, but then our commonwealth would be less free. We're at least lucky Ohio at least allows us PA folks to visit if we have an applicable non-residential form of licensure. What really makes my blood boil though are those states which have residency restrictions without obtainable non-residential licensing.

there is just no way that states that do not issue carry licenses/permits to their own residents (like IL, NJ, etc.) are ever gonna sign onto national reciprocity.

(national reciprocity of driver's licenses happened because all the states agreed to it...not because of a federal law.)

Floridas' permit is now good for 7 years not 5 years.
Utah's still a better deal.
