Another LTCF app question...

When you list your two character references on the PA LTCF application, what exactly will happen with regard to those individuals you list as personal references?

Do they run any in-depth checks into the background of those people?
Will they be called up on the phone and questioned?

The folks I have asked to be my references have asked me these things.
They have nothing to hide, however there are times when having someone looking into your background can have negative repercussions not to mention that they have no interest in having their privacy invaded.

No they are not going to run background checks on them. The Sheriff may or may not contact them by phone. My contacts were not contacted. I live in Chester County too.

If you have some questionable things in your background then the odds of the Sheriff contacting your references will likely go up.

Monroe contacts them by a preprinted questionnaire. Some contact them by phone. Some places don't contact them at all. All depends on where you live. They will generally be asked:

Do you know this person to be an illegal drug user?

Do you know this person to be an abuser of alcohol?

How many years have you known this person?

Do you have any reason to believe that this person's character would make them a danger to the public?



I may have left one or two out, but you get the gist.... They are not subject to any investigation, whatsoever.

Mine were never contacted at all.
Maybe me using 2 friends from NYC had something to do with it.
Got my LTCF in about a week or so.

Both mine were called here in Huntingdon County.
As far as I know, they were just asked if I was an upstanding individual, a hazard to myself or others, etc. things like that.

Must be Pike county, mine were from NYC and Florida and still got the questionnaires.

Dauphin County never called mine either...took 2.5 weeks

Mine was processed last July in Chester County. 21 days and NO contacting of the references, who were out-of-state residents since I'm a newcomer from PRNJ.

Nope.
Erie County. We have a GREAT sheriff here!
