I think Headcase meant if you are attending a university from out of state or are a recent transplant to prove residency.

In this case, it seems he is native to Pa.

Not all of the townships use Berkheimer, so check with your township and see if they use someone different. The township I live in didn't use Berkheimer, all I did was go to the township office and tell them I need a letter stating that I am registerd with them and that I live in the township... I have lived here for 2 years and it seems I needed a moving permit in order to move in.. which was $1... Anyway it shouldn't be that big of a deal. It doesn't make it right though.

As far as the utility bills... I must have just missed that one, I applied in late Feb, and I didn't have to give them any utility bills. I feel lucky now because none of the utility's are in my name.

I was just discussing it with my mother and she said she's sure that the 1% tax was taken out for me, i guess its a pretty common thing for most local places of business to do for their employees. She also thinks its rediculous i need to prove my residency by this 1% tax, i've lived here since i was 5, did my entire education (unfortunately haha) at a monroe country school district, and now attend a pa college. ill give the sherrifs office and berkheimers a call.

Holy Cow! In Lackawanna county...I was in and out in less than 15mins! They never called my references and didn't ask me for anything more than my driver's license (IIRC).
The Sherriff wasn't very talkative despite my attempt to make small talk - But I was still in and out right quick!

I don't know if this is all part of the same topic or not but I was checking out the link provided to the PSP and they mentioned a "Sportman's firearm license" I've never heard of this before, is this something needed in order to hunt in PA? or is this so that you can carry a shotgun/rifle in your car w/o being secured in a case?

No, No, and No.

A Sportsman’s Firearm Permit has nothing to do with long guns whatsoever.
You may not have a loaded shotgun/rifle in a vehicle whether it is cased or not.

That is what I had thought and what I was taught, thanks. What is the purpose of the sportmans permit, to carry a handgun while hunting for "protection"?

Sorry if these are stupid questions

Default Re: What exactly is the LTCF?

No the sportsmen's permit has nothing to do with protection. It's for being able to carry a handgun for sporting purposes. From the PSP website:

The issuances of a Sportsman’s Firearm Permit allows the individual to carry a firearm if such persons are actually hunting, taking furbearers, fishing or training dogs, or are going to the places where they desire to hunt, take furbearers, fish, or train dogs during the regular training season, or returning from such places. A Sportsman's Firearm Permit is NOT a License to Carry a firearm concealed.

You can, however, carry a handgun for self-protection while hunting, but you must have a LCTF to carry it.
