Default Ingram clerk points gun, will lose license: police

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt...rce=rss&feed=1

Ten days after shooting a would-be robber multiple times, an Ingram convenience store clerk again pulled a gun -- this time on a customer, police said Tuesday.
"They were in a heated argument over change from a transaction," Ingram police Chief John Doherty said, describing clerk Kaelin Weber's encounter with the customer. "Words were exchanged, and he felt he was being intimidated."

Weber, 24, was cleared of wrongdoing in the Christmas morning shooting, but the latest incident will cost him his license to carry a concealed weapon, said Allegheny County Sheriff Bill Mullen, who grants gun permits.

"Based on the recommendation of the Ingram police, I'm going to revoke his license," Mullen said. "You threaten a guy with a firearm who said you gave him the wrong change."

The customer, whom Doherty declined to identify, was angry Friday because he thought Weber didn't give him correct change for his cigarette purchase at the 7-Eleven on West Prospect Street. As the argument escalated, Weber pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed it at the customer, Doherty said.
Another person inside the store called police, Doherty said.

On Christmas, police said Weber shot Lawrence Davis, 20, who slashed him during a robbery attempt. He then ordered Davis to stay on the ground until police arrived.

District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said Monday he will not charge Weber for shooting Davis.

Zappala's spokesman, Mike Manko, said prosecutors are reviewing the most recent incident.

Weber did not return a call seeking comment.

Poor guy was obviously traumatized after what happened only 2 weeks ago... It's a shame he didn't have the option for further time off or a store change.

Could have been a setup too. Friends of last weeks robber.

I wonder if the Sheriff reviewed any store video tapes or investigated before he decided to revoke his license.

A setup is a possibility, but after seeing their buddy shot, I doubt they would take the risk to come in to try to provoke him into simply pulling his weapon so that his LTCF is revoked or he gets into other legal trouble. If it was a revenge thing, I'd imagine they would come in, shoot, then run.

Also, it's interesting to see him back at work for a national chain so soon after a defensive shootng like that (I didn't realize it was anything other than an indy convenience store on first read). Are 7-Elevens independently owned and operated? Anyone have any idea on their firearms policies?

I'm betting its a setup. either friends of the prior bandit, or just an anti-gun person trying to stir the pot.

Seriously think about what would have to go through a person's head to convince them to provoke a guy that they know has a gun, at the same place he just shot and killed someone 2 weeks ago. Makes no sense. Are anti-gun wackos trying to get shot nowadays to prove their craziness?

Anyone think that maybe the clerk overreacted? Seems from the article there was a witness in the store that called police.

Yes, some are even buying guns and using them.

As for some of his buddies, even a hoodlum can use nonviolent methods to push someone over the edge and use the law for their own benefit. I've seen it happen many times in Tampa where neighborhood thugs peacefully confronted neighbors and used coy methods to provoke them into hostilities - thus resulting in the non-thug neighbor spending the weekend at Orient Rd lockup.

Crazy stuff. Any links to news on this stuff?

I see where you're coming from with thugs creatively using the law to their benefit, but in this case, the guy showed when pushed over the edge that he shoots, and not just once. I really just think this guy was crazy on edge, as I bet I would be too if I had to shoot and kill someone who attacked me. This time was an overreaction for sure. Guy needs to find a new job.
