Default Moving from one county to another in the commonwealth...

Hello All!

I obtained a concealed carry permit about a year ago while living in Allegheny county (Pittsburgh to be more precise) and have recently moved to Somerset County. There are several years remaining on my license. Am I legal to carry with my Allegheny County issued license or do I need to obtain a new one from the Somerset County Sheriff's department as that is now my county of residence? I've been looking for the law but haven't had any luck in finding it. If anyone has a link that officially stipulates the state law on the matter I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

What I was told by Lancaster county when I moved was that my license was valid until expired or revolked, regardless of the address on the license, so long as I am still a PA resident.
They told me to wait until renewal to worry about my new address.
While it is true that I moved within the county, I did not tell them that.
I can only assume they told me the truth, and that my license is valid until it expires or is revolked so long as I am still a resident of PA.

It is a PA License to Carry Firearms, valid in any county of the Commonwealth.

A LTCF is indeed valid until revoked. Where it was issued is of no matter.
However it would be a good idea to inform the sheriff's dept. where you now reside of your change of address, so they can inform you when your LTCF is due for renewal.

Yes, you may carry with your Allegheny-issued LTCF as a Somerset County resident.

At renewal time, just renew in Somerset Co.

You should, however, notify the Allegheny Co. sheriff's office of your new address.

A call would not hurt anything.
Just FYI though, Lancaster county didn't want any updated information from me even when offered.
They just said my license was still valid.

YMMV

The license is valid until revoked. If it IS revoked, they'll send notice to your last known address, and it's revoked whether you receive that letter or not. So make sure that you send the issuing Sheriff a certified letter with your new address.
