Unhappy Carrying License

I am currently thinking about buying a gun and applying for a liscense. I work for the Government and have had a complete background check on me including asking my neighbors about me and checking to see if I left the country. My issue is that I have a juvinile record from 1988 for robery and they never picked that up. I am pretty sure I can purchase a gun but I was wondering if I would be able to get a permit to carry, and will their background check pick up on it.

P.S. I live in Delaware County....Any insite will be appreciated..

Dametheman: prior background checks do not count. They will do a NEW one. About the robbery charge...was it expunged from your record? That's the only reason I can think of that the prior background check didn't pick it up. If it was expunged, I see no problem. If it was not and you do not list it on the application, you could be charged with a crime for trying to purchase a handgun. The whole thing is a bit murky because it happened when you were a juvenile. Perhaps one of our LEO members can give a more concise answer.

It was juvenile, so that record, I believe, is sealed and not admissible for any reason for anything.

Basically it doesn't count.

Review this issue with legal counsel and be sure.

If the application says to list ALL arrests - it means just that - all arrests. While juvenile records are "sealed" they are available, and if you fail to disclose - you will never get a permit and possible could endanger yourself in future applications for other backgrounds that may be conducted.

As a previous writer suggested - when in doubt - consult with legal counsel!

I haven't looked at one lately... but i'm pretty sure it doesn't ask for arrests - being arrested doesn't prove anything - being convicted does -
