It can't hurt to get the PA LTCF can it? Also... I thought you had to have a PA LTCF before FL would issue you their non-resident permit?? Can someone with more knowlege chime in here?

Getting a PA LTCF is a good idea. It only costs $25 and it will get you a few more states. WV, MI, NH and CO.
You'll not have to explain to a LEO that a FL permit is recognized in this state if you have a PA one.

It's much easier to read if you use the SHIFT button once in a while. Thank you.

You can open carry as long as you are NOT in a vehicle, then you need a LTCF if the weapon, firearm, gun is on your person or loaded and in the vehicle with you.

short answer, NO,

you do not need a Pa. LTCF before you get a Fl. permit, nor do you need one at all if you get a Fl. permit, as you will be able to carry in any state that recognizes it, with few exceptions of sates that only recognize RESIDENT permits. i.e. Wv.. etc

This answer is questionable. The first part of the answer is correct, you do not need a Pa. LTCF before you get one from Fla. However there are issues about answer about the need for one if you do have a Fla. permit. As you can see in this thread there is reason to believe that you could be charged with illegally carrying in Pa. if you are a Pa. resident and are trying to use another state's permit for reciprocity purposes.
