I just wanted to share some information. Nevada's new reciprocity law went into effect yesterday; unfortunately, only 8 states are recognized: Alaska
Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee, Utah. Good news is, Nevada will recognize a non-resident Utah permit. I called Metro police, and they told me as long as you are a holder of a Utah concealed weapon permit, then you are good to go. Only other thing, if you visit Clark County (Las Vegas area mainly), you do need to register any handguns you bring with you, and you need your valid carry license, the blue registration card, and another photo government ID when carrying your handgun. Hope this clarifies things for some of you. I'm thinking a trip to Vegas is in order soon... |

I received that info from a friend and updated our website.

That is good news, but not good enough for me. I'm attending the Gun Blogger's Rendezvous next week in Reno, and I don't have a license from any of those states, unfortunately. The word is that Nevada is big on reciprocal states having training requirements, which we do not. Might be an uphill battle there. But I do have a Florida license, which requires training, so hopefully that will be forthcoming.

I would like to know if there has been a change in the Nevada Reciprocity laws in 2009. I had been told that they no longer honor Florida or Utah permits. Has anyone heard of this change?

Nevada doesnot honor Utah any longer because the live fire portion of the course is optional. Nevada does not honor Florida any longer because Florida now issues a 7 year permit. Nevada has NICS checks ever fiver years.
Nevada sheriffs association is meeting this month for their annual review of other states for reciprocity. who knows what other states they will add you can get a non resident nevada but you have to complete the training in Nevada. |

Nevada performs a review of reciprocity each May. -- they dropped Utah as Nevada requires live fire and Utah does not -- they dropped Florida as FL now issues a 7 yr (formerly 5 yr) permit My current class is only on a brief break, if I check in later and no one has posted a link to the revised Nevada info, I'll attach it here.
