You would be surprised how quick you can get a key in a lock, on a safe under the bed, when you hit condition 1.

Been there, done that!

Is it really? Do any LE / military agency use hearing protection in combat?

ETA: OP, let me know if this should be taken to its own thread.

The question of hearing protection for HD is something I have been wondering about for a LONG time. I would also like to hear some LEO and military weigh in on this one. As well as more recommendations for hearing protection.

I strongly recommend not using an AR as a HD Weapon. It asks for trouble with over penetration. I would recommend a shotgun or handgun.

Yes Military uses it. But some people dont, and they still have hearing, although there is a great chance of damange. My opinion is that when SHTF I dont care if im deff as long as im alive.

Unfortunately you've got a bad set of data backing that claim, whoever told it to you. AR's are actually better from a pene standpoint than 9mm/45/12ga00 in just about every test done on the matter.

Its JMO....I stand behind it, If you load standard shot into a 12ga, it will not penetrate dry wall the way a 223 will. The issue isnt a hit on the target, its when you miss.
