But....stance is not key. Hitting the target is key.

Yes, a certain stance will certainly allow you to align the sights fast and to reduce recoil for follow up shots, but you should always find what works best for you. And that will depend on what the front sight tells you.....not the mirror.

Your not an idiot because you are taking the time to try and learn properly, that's not being an idiot.

The mirror isn't bad for practicing presentation, but dry fire is more about pressing the trigger while your front sight stays on your target the entire time....

You are working on learning to feel exactly were your triggers break is, and where your triggers earliest reset is... You ultimately are trying to achieve feeling the break and not allowing your front sight to move off your target at all and then learning where it resets for faster follow up shots....

Do it with a buddy at the range using a shell casing on your front sight...

Not only do I practice dry fire with my rifle and pistol but also, weapons change from rifle to pistol and vise versa. I also practice tactical mag changes with my pistol. The more you do it the better your muscle memory will be but, there is such a thing as to much so don't over do it.

One good practice is trigger squeeze. Place a coin on the end of the barrel get good sight picture and squeeze trigger while keeping the coin from falling off.
