I'll be attempting to "ring the gong" (likely "break the gong" since it's me) @ 100yds with my XDSC next time out to the range.
I can do it at every range distance at the club offhand with the AR now, figured i'd try it with the pistol.

Sucks, you're getting married because "hey baby, they call me the gong-breaker" is a hell of a pick-up line.

Yes, when the outdoor in in use by a rifle shooter, I have been known to set up and shoot my 1911 at the 100 yard mark just for shits and giggles.

50 yards is a standard distance for both NRA Bullseye (slow fire) and PPC shooters. 100 yards on a full-size silhoutte is not that hard and 8" or 10" plates are fun to knock over at any distance as long as you can spot your hits so you can adjust point of aim.

I did this at an early group shoot and also at a turkey shoot.
I shot fairly decent at 100. Probably lucky 27

100 yard handgun shots are attainable, but as with greater distance, the fundamentals of shooting really do come into play. I shoot and qualify regularly at the 50 yard line, which makes the leap to 100 yards really not that much more difficult.

I do, nothing formal though. Iron plates, silhouettes and other objects out to max visual distance.
I can hit 3-4" iron plates at 50yards off hand with my silhouette 44 with ease. PD and chuck size plates between 100-200 yards depending on my sugar levels. Proportionate larger critters(deer, bear, buffs, rams, etc) silhouettes out further.
