Default looking for glock pistol

best,
I'am looking for a glock pistol for defence. Any advice or sellers would be good.
It's not for competition, only defence, but i'm not sure yet witch caliber would be the best option, so any sugestions I would appriciate.

Kind regards,
Claude

As for caliber, it's best to go with what you're comfortable with (and still accurately competent with on the second or third shot.) I'd suggest visiting a gun shop/range that will let you rent theirs, and try out different guns.

If it's to be carried for defense, I'd suggest a compact or sub-compact size, for easier concealment and comfort on you, but take the grip size with your hand into account too - make sure you're comfortable in holding and firing it.

If you're looking for a GLOCK, the 19 and 26 are good sizes for 9mm, the 17 is a big long for concealment (unless you're carrying on the side with a jacket or vest I guess.)
In .40 caliber, the identical model sizes I mentioned is the 23 and 27.
There's also a model 30 (sub-compact) in .45 caliber, and models 38 (compact) and 39 (sub-compact) in .45 GAP too.

claudinio,

What are the laws over there about owning guns chambered in military calibers? I would think the Belgian military carries 9mm's. Is it legal for you to own a 9?

If that's the case, you may want to go with a .40 S&W or .357 SIG. Ammo in those calibers may be hard to get over there though. You may be able to find a Glock chambered in .380 ACP. Those are not legal for import over here.

Belgian gun laws are very strict. As far as I know, there was a new proposed in '05 by Laurette Onkelinx the Justice Minister. The law was passed in June of '06.

Quote:
"From tomorrow, no single weapon will be free to purchase," Justice Minister Laurette Onkelinx said on Thursday. It means simply being an adult and showing ID will not be deemed sufficient in future.
Instead you'll have to undergo 3 months of bullshit paperwork and then a police screening. Once you've received your permit, it's only good for 1 year. If the permit is not renewed, you must forfeit your firearm. Any existing firearms must be registered within the next 3 months or you can be imprisoned for 5 years. If the firearm is restricted, you must turn it in for forfeiture.

Believe it or not but I was actually considering moving to Belgium. I have a lot of friends over there but the taxes are way too high and laws like this make you a whippingboy for the Government.

A second for the glock 19, make sure whatever glock you get, has Nightsites if you are carrying.
