I sold sporterized Mauser online. Buyer lives in PA and willing to pick up the gun in person to avoid shipping charge. Do we need to go to FFL holder or just handshake deal is enough? Do I need some sort of bill of sale or a copy of his picture ID? Thank you for advice

You don't need to do anything except exchange money and merchandise.
That said, I would advise doing a bill of sale of some sort. File it away just in case. As advised previously the bill of sale on the site (check the stickys in the Classifieds section) has everything you would need. I would not do a FTF without a bill of sale. If the buyer is reluctant, I would rethink the deal.

mpi's answer is correct. Your only responsibility under the law is that you have no knowledge of the person being a prohibited person.
Additionally, you need not even conduct the transaction FTF. You can ship the long gun to the buyer within PA directly. |
