Default East Goshen Township Park regulations - No Carry

I was following the other links about the Township Park regulations forbidding the carry of a firearm in a township park. Good reading, so I decided to look up my town, East Goshen. Not sure what I was expecting, but it looks like that ordinance is common.

Section 163-3

N. Firearms and fireworks.
[Amended 8-4-2008 by Ord. No. 129-E-08]
(1)

No person, other than a sworn police officer or other law enforcement officer then on duty and engaged in the performance of his official duties, shall carry or discharge any firearm within the limits of any park or Township-owned lands.

I went to the meeting last night, and I had a chance to speak on this topic. I thought it went really well. The said the would refer the issue to their Solicitor, which I gather is the township lawyer. As I was reading to the board, they seemed to be in agreement that something is wrong here.

I'll keep you posted

Great job! I'm sure the solicitor will tell them that they need to fix the situation. The solicitor at Uwchlan told the supervisors at that meeting that the regulation was unenforceable and should be removed. (See the "Yep, I'm pissed" thread)

Keep us posted if you're going to attend any more meetings. If it weren't for the short notice I would've gone last night.

In this type of situation....could we as citizens go directly to the Solicitor? Or is there a "chain of command" to follow?

I think in these cases, it is probably best to allow the system to work. If I see that they are not taking the issue seriously or stalling, then we would want to take it up a notch. I think that they will do the right thing, I just need to be persistent.

So, they're even prohibiting an off-duty LEO from carrying?
