Check this out:

Figure 1. Shamona Creek Park (Uwchlan Township) rules sign bearing an unlawful ban on firearms.

HINT: It's the third rule from the bottom of the list.

Needless to say, I will be seeking to have myself added to the agenda of the next regular monthly open meeting of the Uwchlan Township Board of Supervisors, which happens to be the week after next.

Up until now, corrupt government officials have been telling me to go-to-hell via e-mail. It'll be nice to be told to go-to-hell to my face for a change.
Let me know the date of that meeting. I may be available to attend and speak as well.

Shamona Creek Park is off of Dowlin Forge Road. Coming eastbound on Eagleview Boulevard, you would make a right onto Dowlin Forge Road (at the Chick-fil-A and travel about two miles. The park entrance is on the left.

Here's a link to the township parks and recreation page.

This isn't likely to happen unless some folks from here attend. I'm not acquainted with anyone locally who is like-minded.

That's a good idea. I'd be willing to bet that West Chester has the unlawful bans as well.

In fact, everyone needs to check out their townships' ordinances. We need to collectively work to create a new momentum in the direction of removing these unlawful bans. So, please, I implore everyone to get busy looking at their local situations.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, 14 September at 1930. Here's a link to the township's board of supervisor's meeting information page.

My request to be added to the agenda was sent last evening. I'll post more about that in the next message.

Once you know the date, post it here. I would bet many of the locals (and some not-so-locals) would make it to the meeting to provide support.

If you know a good place to meet before or after for some good chow, that will draw even more people!

Just a thought.

It doesn't always require two dozen armed "supporters" showing up at a meeting to get things done. I've read several threads here describing the same situation that were resolved with some really good letter writing that pointed out the violation, and potentially expensive repercussions(for the township), should the township choose to ignore state law.

But if that doesn't work, well then go ahead and do what'cha gots ta do.

Good luck!

ETA: My post doesn't read as well as I would have liked.
Great job on stepping forth to address this. It's easy to complain about this sort of thing, but you are apparently in the process of DOING something about it. Good for you. And thank you for doing it, as it benefits ALL of us in one way or another.

Post Re: Yep, I'm Pissed...

Good evening.

Last evening I sent the following request to our township secretary, Lynda Phiel, requesting that I be added to the agenda for the next regular meeting of the Uwchlan Township Board of Supervisors on Monday, 14 September at 1930.

Subject: Request to be Added to the Monthly Supervisors Meeting Agenda

Good evening, Lynda.

I’d like to request to be added to the agenda for the next regular meeting of Uwchlan Township Board of Supervisors scheduled for 14 September. Kindly advise who I must contact to arrange for this request.

Thank you,

Lisa A. Compton
This morning, I received the following response from Lynda:

Subject: Re: Request to be Added to the Monthly Supervisors Meeting Agenda

What is the Agenda item?

FYI - The BOS always asked for comments after each Agenda item and there is an "open to the public" for comments and discussions at the end of the meeting.
In response to Lynda's request for a description of the agenda item, I sent the following:

Quote:

To: Lynda Phiel
Subject: RE: Request to be Added to the Monthly Supervisors Meeting Agenda

Good morning, Lynda.

I wish to speak about the unlawful ban on the carrying of firearms in township parks. (See attached photograph of the rules sign at Shamona Creek Park.) The firearms ban is in violation of Pennsylvania’s 1995 Uniform Firearms Act (18 Pa.C.S. § 6120 paragraph (a)), which specifically prohibits counties, municipalities and townships from restricting the lawful carrying of firearms.

Thank you,

Lisa A. Compton
I have not heard back from Lynda.

I am writing a speech that I will deliver at the meeting. The speech will be provided to the secretary along with an 8" x 10" print of the offending park sign as exhibits. My speech will be about five minutes in duration.

GunLawyer001, would you answer a question for me, please? I need to know how the following should be read when I speak it in my speech:

18 Pa.C.S. § 6120

In other words, do I speak it as it is written; i.e. eighteen Pennsylvania C.S. section six-one-two-zero? Or, should I speak the words for which C.S. stands? What does C.S. mean?

Heh. I just finished reading the OTHER thread that I had not seen until now...

Perhaps it IS time to light the torches?
Well, maybe we'll give your speech a try first.
