The trouble I see with this is that we would be opening ourselves to arrest.

I happen to agree with GunLayer001 (I hope I got that user ID correct) that there is no such thing as a slam dunk. I have my own war stories from a period of time I served in state government, personally observed and documented corruption and became a whistleblower. Furthermore, I have personally observed police officers lying to fabricate probable cause so they could go looking for trouble.

The assumption that many are making is that when you are arrested for violating an unlawful regulation (i.e. a firearms ban), you'll be able to beat it in court. The problem is that the arresting officers, in cahoots with the district attorney, will lie to increase the charges and find some that will stick. Even if the defendant prevails in the end, their life will be turned upside down, they may lose their job, and they'll surely be out a sizeable some of money in legal fees, appellate fees and Heaven knows what other costs, just to prove a point.

I think it's risky and unwise.

This is a risky strategy. I'm not planning to take this route because the print, radio and television media are notoriously anti-Second Amendment biased.

Any attempt to enlist the media in this just cause may backfire as leftist media pundits seek to counter our cause with an argument that the Uniform Firearms Act should be revisited.

While this is a concern, I don't think it is a huge one. They are already disposed to that behavior, so more activity on our part is not going to spur them on. I have had a number of encounters with the media, all of which turned out good. On two occasions I was interviewed and published in very balanced articles by people who were very much anti. The one reporter went on to do a number of articles on PA Patriot that were well done from our point of view.

Please accept my apologies. It was not my intention to discourage others from pursuing any avenue they see fit in removing unlawful firearms bans at the local level. Indeed, if someone believes that they can be successful with the media, and it certainly appears as though you do, then they ought to try to use that vehicle to aid in remedying the unlawful bans.

Speaking for myself, I have zero confidence in the media. Therefore, it is not an avenue that I will pursue personally.

Oh no, no apologies needed Lisa! I have zero confidence in the media as well. My comments are from the point of view that we don't have a lot to lose if we try to engage them, and a lot to gain. As far as talking to them, that is a personal decision. We all have things we do well and things we don't do as well. I have a tough time plowing through all the mind numbing paperwork others do to find stuff we need to keep the fight going, but I do well talking to people and thinking on my feet (some of the time anyway). I think we all need to exercise our strengths however we see it to advance the cause.

Let us know if you get a response from Dinniman. If you do, you'll probably be the first person who ever has, except for campaign donors of course.

I'm not convinced that it would be all that expensive for some of us to bring this suit acting pro se, that is, as our own attorneys. Filing costs are not high and it is not the kind of case that would require a lot of depositions or other discovery. Frankly, I am not sure that the County Parks and Recreation Commission would fight the case if we brought it. On the up side, one successful suit might go a long way toward putting an end to this sort of nonsense.

So, wait, if my daughter and I go to Warwick Park, down the road from us, and we take along some water pistols to squirt each other with, that's a violation?

Oh, how I wish there were somewhere for Americans to emigrate to when desiring life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
