While it's true that the permit fee is now $46.00, the permit is good for 5 years, so lets see that $9.20 per year. I spend that much in primers and powder every trip to the range. I submitted my application on Monday and had my permit on Wednesday.
I've had a permit since the early seventies and the fee was at first $10, per YEAR so don't complain.

Regardless, the fee is still illegally high.

Applied for my permit 3 weeks ago and it just came. Lookin' forward to being able to carry, although there does come some fear and trepidation. There's much responsibility needed when you know that there is a deadly weapon strapped to your hip.

Thumbs up Re: Chester County Permit now $46

It’s true that there is great responsibility with concealed carry, but there is no need to fear. Weapons are tools of fear, not anger or retribution. Practice, drill, and train both drawing and shooting, with the emphasis on accuracy and not speed (for both!). Never produce your weapon if you do not intend to use it, and if you do need to produce it, the decision to fire or not is no longer yours. I’ve been carrying for over 38 years and have never had a close call. We are all safer and more secure with you carrying responsibly – just trust your guts, and you’ll be fine!

Hello to all...I am moving to Coatesville at the end of the month after 13 yrs in the Army. I had a permit from Montgomery County that expired two yrs ago when I was in a deployment. I just read that you need 3 references from the county...problem I have is I am just moving there. I am not going to wait three years to carry "MY RIGHTS".
Does anyone know if there is a Military Clause somewhere that I can use?

I am glad I found this website...it is filled w/ great info from you fellow statesmen.

Welcome to Chester County and the PAFOA, and thank you for your service to the country. The ChesCo. LTCF application ask for two non-family members as a reference and doesn't specify they have to reside in the county. If you still know folks in MontCo., I don't see why you can't use them.

One of the deputies there gave me a bit of a hassle because neither of my references were Chester County residents. I finally gave in to their wishes, asked for their phone book, and put down a neighbor and told the deputy that they know as much about me as he does so it's a worthless reference. He didn't care, he just wanted a ChesCo resident listed. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

I do understand the logic they are using about references in the same county.....but the reality of it, in my opinion , is who knows you better your family or neighbors. Plus alot of people work outside of the county they live in.
When I got my CCL in Montgomery County I just went into the local police department for for the 2 week background check. In Chester County do you go to your local Police Department?
Thanks for your responses!
