This happened to me on my last renewal in September 2007 also. It appears to be the change from doing these manually to the computer that causes this. When I received my renewal permit it was dated to expire five years from the date it was issued, rather than five years from the date the old one expired. A couple of days later I had a call from the Sheriff's office asking me to come in and let them print a new one because my signature had not printed properly on the one they issued. I dutifully went in and when the printed the new one, it was dated to expire five years from that date. I'm not sure if this is happening throughout the state or is peculiar to Chester County, but I am certain it is not any decision or intent of the Chester County Sheriff's office that is driving the problem.
Anyone else in one of the other counties experience this over the past couple of years?
