Default Question about Trout Fishing

Hello,

Every year my father, myself and a few other friends/relatives plan a fishing trip to coincide with the opening day of trout season in PA. Usually we stick to the eastern side of the state, pocono area because we know it well. This year we were planning on doing a camping/fishing trip and have it narrowed down to 2 sites. We were hoping to stay at either Poe Paddy State Park or Reeds Gap State Park. I've heard the fishing around there is unbelievable. My question is: Everywhere I search I'm only finding information about Fly Fishing. We don't Fly Fish, is this going to be a problem for the opening of trout? I'm trying to do the best research I can but really not knowing the area has become a bit of a pain.

Also when in the area can you all recommend Diners, Restaurants etc? This would be for the first night or 2, after that it might be wise we don't really go in public unless we can find a shower lol

Thanks!

Anthony

Poe Paddy/ Poe creek is a "special regulation area". Better check on that. Poe Valley- the lake and camping area- are still closed for construction. I think Poe Paddy is open. Reeds Gap out in New Lancater Valley has no special regs or requirements BUT the park is not very big and is surrounded by private property. Many other local streams are good fishing! Just have to be carefull where you park.

Kish Creek in Reedsville is a great place to fish for trout. It can get alittle busy though. You can set up camp at the Youth Park. As far as looking for a place to eat Peachey's in Belleville has some great food for a good price. It's not far from Poe Paddy either if you decide to go there.
