Default Re: Centre County Sheriff

I guess I'll toss in my 2 cents worth. I'm not on Sheriff Nau's reelection committee and my thoughts come from the interaction I have had with him and his office over the years. He is a Democrat and I am a conservative Republican. I have never, ever had any problems dealings with him whether it was to get/renew my LTCF (I was in the military and stationed out of state when I first got my permit), dealing with my state firearms license, answering his questions when they were doing investigations, him answering my firearms/carry questions or anything else. He is the only Democrat in local government I have ever voted for (although I will be the first to admit that I regret voting for some of the people I voted for as they said one thing and then turned around and did the complete opposite.) I will take people on their word and if they let me down, I REMEMBER. So far Sheriff Nau has not let me down. The other candidates I will investigate, if I think that someone will do a better job they will get my vote. If they get elected and disappoint me and don't do their job they will not get my vote the next time.

Before I moved here from Indiana, I emailed Nau, told him I was moving to Centre County, said I had a CHL in Indiana and asked if I should print out the forms and start the paperwork in Indiana and finish it there (in Indiana, the State Police do the checks and issue CHLs, so it takes several weeks). In five minutes, he replied, and very politely said just to come in when I got here. I had my CHL in fifteen minutes.

That's the only interaction I've had with him, but Democrat or not, he was polite, and gun-friendly.

Hello Everyone,

I just stubled upon this thread and felt it necessary to clarify one liitle item. As far as I know Mr. Kalmbach has not received a single endorsement from any Law Enforcement Agency in the State. Even His Website makes no reference to any endorsements. However, Sheriff Denny Nau did in fact get the endorsement and support of the Fraternal Order of Police.

It is important to say that Sheriff Nau is a friend of mine and I will be voting for him but check the facts yourself as voting is a great privilege and duty and should not be squandered.

I am one of those rare birds who vote for the person and not the party. It usually happens that I prefer one party over another but that is another story....

I will be voting for Denny when the next election rolls around. Many years ago he gave a great talk to our Personal Protection class in favor of individual rights. I have also had the opportunity to talk to him one on one in his office and he is a really nice guy.

I have no problems with the way he has carried out his duties.
I see no reason to vote for another when Denny is doing a fine job. Am I biased?
Most definitely!! I think he is the best person for the job!!!

BondC----Wish I would have thought of that. Great idea.
