Default Selling/appraisal of guns HELP

Hi,
My father-in-law passed away. No one has been in the house for 20 years (he "left" the family) I came across about 10 hand guns. Only one (38 special) has paper work
The rest are old guns/military guns.
1942 M-8 pyrotechnic
Gebr mauser oberndorf revolver
Liberty revolver
young america double action
and others
My Question is: How can I sell them (can I), who would be the best person/business (trusting) to take them to.
Thanks
Jon

You might do best to research the values of each prior to taking them somewhere. Unfortunately there never seems to be a shortage of folks willing to profit from others sudden misfortune. there are several publications where you can do this, here is a link to just one of them. Best of luck, and my condolences. Link here

Starblazer is quite right....there are people out there who will rip you off in a heartbeat. Follow his advice. A friend of mine sold his father's Sig 9mm for a couple of hundred and S&W .38 for $95. They were worth significantly more. As for paperwork....damn I'd sure like to have some unregistered guns! But I think that is an illegal sale these days. Others will know better than I. Whatever you do....keep it legal and fair.

Firearms bought or purchased prior to 1968 did not have to be registered. Since they ARE handguns, future sales will have to go through a FFL dealer - if they were rifles or shotguns that would be a personal decision for you (don't question the logic in that... there isn't any)

Registering firearms does only one thing... it gives the government access to confiscate them.

Gunbroker.com can give you an idea on how much they are worth, but might be on the high side.... look for the ones listed that are being bid on to get a true value. They have a decent search feature
The one you listed seem to be in the Curio and Relic side of firearms, and some war-era collectors may have some particular interest in them.
The best thing to do is Google the actual make and model and see what you come up with, you'd be surprised at the amount of info you can find to help you determine value/ condition.
If you have a digital camera, places like gunboards.com and surplusrifle.com have C&R pistol sections and guys will be happy to help you out.
I have a C&R FFL and sell help out guys appraise and sell guns for them, and might be able to help you out with info, etc if your interested.
