I agree....it's like walking into a third world country. I always park at the auto service door and go in from there....the ammo counter is right there. Avoids having to walk through the entire store.

One night there was 4 gangster "wanna-be's" walking down the MIDDLE of an isle in the parking lot. I was lucky enough to be driving down that particular isle....they saw me, turned and laughed. No big deal....I keep to myself. I never flipped them off, blew the horn or yelled (I believe in "an armed society is a polite society"). After about 30 secounds they turned and threw a can of soda at me & my car for no reason...I was just like WTF? They turned and started approaching my car...at which time I promptly drew my weapon but never pointed at them. They saw this and started yelling "gun!gun!" and ran away. I don't know if they mistook me for someone else or were high on something....but I NEVER enter that store unarmed. Pretty sad.

But for .45 ACP, I would definitely look at Richland's or Encks. They're not all that far away. The Lebanon gun show is coming up soon, so that's always an option as well.

Wow! people tell me all the time that the 5th st store is one of the worst, I agree! My wife says that the best time to go is early sunday morning, too early for all the thugs and lowlifes.

I'll have to check out richland and encks, it's been a long time since I've been to those shops. I bought a few rifles a long time ago from encks.

Thanks.

If you don't mind the drive the Wal Marts in Lebanon and Palmyra usually have some ammo, and Dunhams on 422 in Lebanon is an under used resource. If you're in the area there are also several gun shops.

I stop by the 5th Street Walmart and the one in Wyomissing. The guys behind the counter have both told me to call before coming, but I haven't tried that yet. I just stop by whenever I'm in the area. The employees that I have spoken with tell me that they put the stock on the shelves in the wee morning, and that by noon, the ammo is gone. They usually get a shipment in once a week at both stores. I guess I've been lucky getting 45 ammo.

I completely agree that the 5th street store is horrible. I absolutely hate going in there! Unfortunately, that is the store that I have had the most luck...

Two days ago I purchased two 100 rounds boxes of Winchester value pack 9mm at $21.95 plus tax at the Lancaster Walmart.

What are prices on 9mm range ammo at Encks and Richlands?

Ammo is definitely more available. Wal-Mart, Gun Trader, Handgunner, Seneca Arms. It helps to have multiple guns. I usually can find something I can use and have picked up over 500 rounds of 40, 200 rounds of 380 and 300 rounds of 9mm with little problem over the past month. 223 is much more plentiful. 38 special is still problematic for me.

I usually have luck at the Bechtelsville Wal-mart as well as Temple. Yeah and I also carry when at the 5th St Wally World. Never had any problems there. I notice different prices at the various Wal-Marts for the same round. I believe Wal-mart raises their prices in August each year.

Yes, they sure do. I forgot about them!

Before I started reloading, I was buying Ultramx factory reloads from them. They're a little dirty, but cheap & run 100%.

In the past I've bought 9mm, 40 S&W and .45 acp from them. Not sure what they're prices are now...
