Yeah, it doesen't say that on the web site, but they do require 2 references. Make sure you have their addresses and phone #'s with you when you go in. It's really a very easy process, and the sheriff does seem to be pro-gun ownership. You will get a photo ID on the spot, the same as if you were having a drivers liscense photo taken. I went to one of the remote locations instead of the courthouse in order to avoid going to Reading while unarmed. |

That place is the reason why I got a LTCF. And I'd feel a lot better if I was carrying an MP5 full auto, or mabey even a mini gun....

I was thinking the same thing. I have been going to hockey games/concerts for the last 8 years.. getting out of the Sovereign Center @ 10-11 pm, then walking to the Oyster, Jokers or the Speckled Hen. If Reading is such a bad place, I must be damn lucky as I have never even had anyone look at me cross eyed. Never had an issue driving home via Binhamton street bridge either. Where are you guys having all these problems in Reading? Or are you just reading the paper and/or passing on info second hand?

My incedent occured less than a block away from the Ugly Oyster. Long story short, the guy wanted my wallet. This guy's phisical state was other than normal, and he became violent when I refused his requests (he pounded on my drivers window with both fists). I put it in gear and left real quick when that happened. Had he gotten to me ten seconds earlier, I would not have had the protection that the locked doors and rolled up windows of my vehicle provided. There was more to the encounter than that, but that's the short, short, short version. There is no question that I would have been forced to defend myself if I had still been on foot when the encounter began. I was a fence sitter with regaurd to buying carry piece, but that close call incedent was the deciding factor. I've since undergone handgun safety and defensive training as well.
