Default Public Gun Ranges??

I'm having a heck of a time with this. I recently purchased a an old-time Cap n Ball pistol...and now I need somewhere to shoot it.

I was just reading about a public range near French Creek, but I can't really find specific directions or anything.

I live in Mohnton (Green Hills, specifically), but anywhere near the Reading area is fine. Any ideas?

Here is a list ofall the public ranges maintained by the state game lands
http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/v...a=480&q=161297

I personally go to SGL300 all the time, its a pretty decent range. 25, 50, 100, and 200 yrd ranges all with earth berms. Others may be different.

I was just at SGL106 yesterday. Nobody else was there so I got to shoot at whatever distance I wanted.

I'm also in green Hills (more or less anyway). I was reading up on the range at French Creek, and it looks like pistols are not allowed there. The Pa Game Commission link posted above seems to confirm that. I would think that most any gun club should allow that sort of thing. You might check into the Mohnton Fish and Game club. I can ask some of my co workers who are members there tomorrow if there are any restrictions that would preclude a pistol like that. I'm not a member, but might be soon. I bet they would let you shoot it if you offered to let the range officer try it out.

Pistols are allowed just its only 50 or 100 yards and the three round max rule applies.

Doh, I forgot to post my reply! Not sure if you are still monitoring this thread or not, but I had asked around at work. It seems that the only restrictions at Mohnton Fish and Game are no full auto's, no armor piercing rounds, and no tracer rounds. I'd say you would be good to go there.

Sorry for the senior moment. Can you get those at age 32?

Thanks for the responses. I'm gonna go check out French Creek today, and then Mohnton for a more long-term solution.
