making my own tracers, anybody know of anybody selling hollow base tips?

You may be able to find some hollow base bullets intended for the .45 colt but they will be heavier in the 250 gr range. Even in availible moulds your choices are limited to the heavier bullets. As a alternative you could always make a fixture to make them from regular flat base bullets,A drill press would be about all you would need

i thought about that, but i dont have a drill press, plus i want to make quite a few. the guy on gunbroker is just obscene with his prices. i,ll take the "drilling them myself" into consideration. thanks tim...

Drilling out the base of a bullet with any consistency is near impossible. Too many variables will usually result in the bullet wobbling downrange. Fooling around with tracer compounds is dangerous.

I know someone knows Joe and Charlie make tracers all the time in the shed but the whole affair is something I think you should reconsider.

im not to worried about tracer compound, not as dangerous as you think. Ive been an amateur pyro for years, this is a walk in the park compared to my normal routine. the hard part is going to be packing the bases
