I'm a noob to reloading, but doesn't he need to be concerned about slam-fires when the primer isn't seated fully, I guess it wouldn't be catastrophic to the firearm (pistol) like it would be in an AR or SKS, but it would surprize the heck out of him when he releases the slide?

I have a turret press a few years old.

I have purchased alot of the bells and whistles, however, when I purchased the Safety Prime, the bracket to mount it on the press was not included.

Anyone know of a dealer in the Lehigh Valley that carries the parts?

Thanks everyone!

I've only had one slam fire in my life and was off factory ammo. I believe it's more an issue of the firing pin than the cartride, but I could be wrong.

what you would have to worry about is the firing pin going through the primer and the hot gasses damaging your bolt face & firing pin
or it coming out all together and getting stuck in something...
I love my lee turrent press i had it for years and just upgraded to the LSP system 3 months ago it works flawless i turned out 250 38 cases in about an hour and a half. It is all about little setup things on the lee that are NO WHERE in the directions a bit of tinkering here and there is all it takes.

To get the saftey prime lined up with the arm i put the ram all the way up and held the arm in position then tightened the bolt to secure it in place works every time

First thing, Winchester and Remington(R&P) brass work best for me using Lee Classic Turret press/Lee Deluxe Dies in 45acp. Federal, Speer and others seem to not go so smooth through. I use the Lee press for priming, works great, along with the auto-pro powder dispenser. From my experience, 38spl 357mag, 45acp are all a breeze using Lee classic turret. Big money saver, sorta..if you were to shoot the same amount.

Thanks everybody for the help with the Lee Classic Turret.

I figured out most of my issues and was able to make about 90 rounds of .45acp the other night. I brought the charge from ~4.8gr of Win 231 to ~5.0gr. The Lee manual says do not exceed 5.1, whereas Speer shows 6.2gr as MAX.
While the first 10 I worked up with 4.8gr were more accurate than Federal 230gr FMJ from WM (my factory comparison), they seemed much more underpowered.

The biggest problem with the press came from rough machining on the LPS primer arm. Once I smoothed the edges with a file and lightly lubricated the spring, it glides under the shellholder with less problems. It may require some more fitting for it to be flawless.

For those of you who use the Classic turret, does anybody reload 9mm or .223? Those are the other 2 calibers I'd like to do once I get more comfortable. I believe the .223 is going to require much more case prep as far as sizing and removing crimped primer pockets etc.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks again everybody.
