Default Self defense ammo question..

I'm sure theres no law written in stone on this issue, but it's something thats come across my mind more than once. I dont know if there is any truth to this, but I think I recall hearing once about someone who was in a defensive shooting, and had some handloaded monsters and they tried to prosecute because of the bullets being made to kill or some bullsh*t thing like that.

Now the handloads dont really apply to me, just because I think for reliability reasons I would never stray away from a good factory defense load, But I do have black talons, I know they are legal to own still, but I just wonder if some head strong anti gun prosecutor wouldnt try to run with that. I have a friend who had them taken away before by an officer in VA i believe.

black talons are a 20+yo design. They have been updated numerous times. Buy yourself a box of winchester rangers and upgrade your ammo while you avoid the stigma the black talon carries.

This has already been pointed out in another thread. Be careful when buying Winchester Ranger Ts because there are variations of Ranger Ts being sold. I buy the one with the "SXT" on the side of the box. I saw that Cabelas had the 40 S&W Rangers, but it's not the "SXT" brand.

Gold Dots and Federal HSTs are also good carry loads as well.

Its not prosecutors you have to worry about, it is the civil attorneys.

If you were legally allowed to use deadly force with a standard round-nosed bullet, then you were legally allowed to use a howitzer, grenade, bazooka, car, crossbow, sword, etc, if so lawfully owned (disclaimer:explosive DD's not legal in PA).

Feel free to use or load up what works best for you and your firearm.

I use 12 ga. 00 Buck. If the person in my house wants to discuss that after two rounds, be my guest, still have five more in the mag. Does it really matter? The whole point is to stop the invader, they are obviously someplace they don't belong. As far as I'm concerned, drop them in their tracks with what ever is at hand, they are dead either way; .50 cal to .22 to shotgun. When your ass is on the line, I don't think the first thing that comes to your mind is litigation. The first thing is survival.

Response: I've heard the same thing from NRA guys. I haven't heard anything that came from litigation on that though. I think it might be just an NRA thing.

Response: I don't see why an officer would confiscate the ammo, but being your not sure, well. Also, since you don't reload, what's the point of your first statement, I'm just asking. Reliability shouldn't be a reason. Reloads are very reliable, that is. I'd say use what you feel comfortable with, if it's for sale to the public, whats the problem?.

The responses are my posts.

I believe it was Mickey Rourke in the rather forgetable movie "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man", "I could be blind as a bat and still blow a hole in you wide enough to that truck through.."
