wbell is on a distinguished road
Default .300 RUM Load.

Anyone have any recommendations on a good load. I am using 180 gr. bullets. I have retumbo and H1000 powder, but I am interested in what others are having success shooting.

Default Re: .300 RUM Load.

Both of those powders will work nicely. Mine preferred Retumbo, R25 and R22 with 200gr Accubonds and Rem Mag Primers. Retumbo produced the highest velocity damn near 3200 fps. R25 and R22 were slightly more accurate and about 100fps slower . The .300 RUM is one bad ass cartridge man, not a whole lot it can't do. Be care full on the higher end loads pressure builds fast! The brass only tends to last 3 or 4 loadings before the primer pockets are loose as a Tijuana hooker! What bullet are you loading? The 200gr shot so good that I never bothered with anything lighter. The 200gr Accubond with its .588 bc and the horsepower of the RUM getting it to 3200fps seemed like the perfect match to me. Not to many critters in NA that will stand up to that much firepower and it gets to 1000y with minimum amount of dope.

180gr bullets
Retumbo From 86.3 grains to 102.5 grains

H-1000 From 78.7 grains to 100.0 grains

RL-25 From 80.0 grains to 96.8 grains

RL-22 From 76.3 grains to 91.9 grains
