Haven't used them, but if it the XD works fine with other ammo then it's the ammo for you.

Yea the XD eats ANYTHING up until these. I have over 1000 rounds through, probably 300 of which have been various HP, and these are the first malfunctions.

Shawn ran a few of the 45's through his wilson without issue but that gun is sold. I have put a few of the 147gr 9mm+p through my XD service and Kahr K9. Never had a flaw with either.
Those are good rounds, my favorite carry ammo so far but if they won't feed it's not worth it.

I have put about 100 rds each of the 147gr HST's through my FN fnp9 and S&W M&P 9c without issue. They even ran well in my P11 before i sold it

I have probably run close to 1,000 of them through my P229. Never a problem.

You can either fix the bulge yourself or return the mag to Springfield for a replacement. From what I understand, the newer mags are stronger and don't have this issue. From what I'm told, the issue is related to when the slide travels back in recoil (especially fast with the +P), friction or some edge catches the next HST round in the mag and drives it back into the back of the mag, bulging it. It is only an issue with the .45; none of the other XDs have this issue. Let us know what you discover and how it works out. If you have a concern about it for carry, or your find that the magazine bulge issue isn't your problem but your gun just doesn't like the HST, try the Speer Gold Dot instead. I haven't had any problems shooting it out of my P220s.
Some guns just don't like some ammo. That's why it's so important to run at least 150 flawless rounds through your CCW of carry ammo before you depend on it.

I still have a box of the HST +p, but I have switched to the normal HST for carry. I dont think there is an appreciable advantage to the +p with how well that HST works normally, and the tradeoff in controllability isnt worth it to me. The diff between the regular, +p, or +p+ in my XD in 9mm was never really huge, but on the 45 it is beastly. I did run some in my TRP, and had one lock the slide back, but to be fair that was its first time out to the range and inside its first couple hundered rounds, and the slide on that gun was so tight I couldnt rack it without beating it into something solid to break it loose. I have ran ~100 of the reg HST with no issue since a little polish on the ramp. I just got some more in the mail........

Thans for all the good info! I checked the mags for bulge, all seems to be in good working order. I have 6 mags for the gun, and have had issues with, I think, all of them, so I'm ruling that out. Ran a bunch of different loads through, zero probs with any except HST+P. So I guess its an easy fix, just don't use that round! HST regular pressure ran fine, so i'll probably go with that, although until I have a chance to run 150-200 through, its Pow'R Ball all the way. I know Pow'r Balls performance isn't supposed to be as good as some others and the jackets tend to rip off, but in .45 I'll take 100% reliablitly and give up a little weight retention any day. That goes double for the XD Tactical, 13+1. If 14 rounds of .45ACP doesn't solv whatever problem I may encounter, I would think it would be time to make some better lifestyle decisions!
