1962 got a GOOD job as a GS-6, civil service $5642.00 a year. Gas was .29-.32 cents a gallon, not too sure how that compares. I don't feel that it was any cheaper than now.

Exactly! $5,642 was a lot of money in 62... it's all relative.

If it's still available, I'll give you the current market value of "whatever you're asking".

Remember shotgun news? I couldn't wait to get mine in the mail. 223.00 romanian aks. They were the crappy dragonov style but they were cheap and they worked.

I remember seeing an ad for I believe the m1 carbines. It was like $299 with a shit load of accessories, not just cleaning kit and oil can. I think it cam with a couple pouches and a pack. Definitely an original sling. Still wrapped and greased.

I don't remember exactly but 1911's and M1 Carbines were a little over $20.00 with freight from DCM. My 1911a1 was arsenal rebuilt and had never fired after, $17.50 and freight.
