Default Blue tips .380

At the York Gun Show I picked up a 50 Box of .380 PMC - Precision Made Cartridges.

The box was marked 'mixed' for $10. I was getting good deal on some .45 so I added them to the purchase.

At home I found, in the box, 28rds of fmj, 17rds of hp and 5rds of plastic blue tips.
The blue tips are marked .380 auto W-W
Question: Anyone know what these blue tip are about?

~THANKS~

might be those glaser safety slugs, if so they are crap so just shoot them off at the range. Dont put them in the gun for self defense thats for sure. funny if they are because someone paid about 15-20 smackers for them

XD45 hit it right on the head.
The picture ----Glaser Blue Safety Slug. Thats them!

So, not a good round? They look kinda impressive. Picture is telling me there like a shot shell. Will try them at the range sometime this week.
Again, thanks for the info.

They work really well. They sell for $10 for 6 rounds pack, so you got a good deal.

Bill...they're NOT shotshells. The shot stays enclosed in the copper jacket until the bullet strikes the target.

Actually they are junk as far as SD is concerned. Just a marketing gimmick to separate a fool and his money. Ya have to ask yourself why the police and feds don't use them if they are so great. Numerous tests have confirmed that they don't penetrate for sh!t. JUNK!

Ok -- not shot shells. The picture give the impression they would be very distructive. Thinking back, wasn't there some kind of controversy years ago about Glasers? Something about 'Cop Killers' if I remember correctly.

$10 for 6 and and a controversy about reliability......doesn't seem to be worth all the trouble.
Maybe one would look good on a keychain?

in .380/9x17short, anything other than fmj=worthless it does not have the power to push an hp or other rd deep enough to do serious damage, quickly enough. fmj's hardly have enough umpf to get the to the magic 12 inch mark.
iirc there was one or two brands of .380 sd rds that could almost make 12''s.

Went to the range and firer off the box of mixed ammo.
No problem with the fmj and the 'blue tips' glasers.
Some of the hp jammed. Seemed they are not sized correctly.
