RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
Does anyone know if Hornady dies are compatible with RCBS presses? I know RCBS dies are 7/8-14 threads but can't find info on Hornady threading anywhere....Also, if anyone has a set of 40 S&W dies they want to pawn off, let me know!

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
I have a set of Hornady 22-250 dies. They fit in my Rock Chucker press just the same as my RCBS dies.
Unless Hornady makes a different die for their progressive press all their dies should be the same as RCBS standard calibers.

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
They should be fine. I use RCBS and Lyman dies in my Hornady and Lee presses.

if it is a standard press the dies will interchange. I have an old liberty and a rock chucker. I use lyman, rcbs, c&h, pacific, wells, hornady, and bonaza dies in them .

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
I did some research on the interchanging topic a while back when i was trying to get a .357Mag RCBS die & couldn't find anything. I contemplated going with Hornady but just waited and eventually was able to pick up an RCBS die & shell holder.
What I learned was Hornady dies & shell holders will fit on an RCBS press.

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
Back in the day many were threaded differently, but I believe that they are all standardized now. I know that Hornady and RCBS are interchangeable.

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
The standard for the most part for dies is 7/8-14. There are still some dies that are proprietary to certain presses (Dillon Square Deal) and dies for .50 BMG and the old shotgun dies are larger 1 1/4 or 1 1/2.

Re: RCBS and Hornady Reloading Dies
The only dies that would NOT be compatible would be Dillon Square Deal proprietary dies (or some really old presses).
If the various dies were NOT compatible, they would have warnings all over the packaging. Reloading companies do not want to "fool" you or lead you astray.
Again, this is a question that every reloading manuals covers and asking the question makes one wonder if you have read your manuals completely...
