Re: Lee Pro 1000: Can't reload 300 Blackout? A question of dies... And beyond frustra
To expand on what rwilson452 is explaining the Lee factory crimp die for rifles should be mentioned. This gives a straight crimp around the bullet. It is very useful for bullets with no cannelure. Have come to use it in every rifle caliber I load.

They should. Most all new dies that are threaded are common 7/8 x 14. Some are meant for an arbor press but that should be stated in the product description. Manufactures have made the 7/8 thread pretty common across the board now. Only really old dies or 50BMG (50 are much bigger. I think and inch or inch and a quarter) are not going to be standard. I'm sure there is some goofy ass company making a non standard thread but you not likely going to see it in common use.
The crimp issue has been well covered except for that most auto loading pistols use a taper crimp because the casing headspaces on the rim of the case. A rifle with a shoulder casing should headspace off the shoulder and not the case mouth. Again crimping allows for better consistancy. You don't have too but if you can I would.
A roll crimp such in revolver use would not allow that to happen as it deforms the case mouth into the bullet. If you want to get even more technical the roll crimp in a revolver style bullets keeps the bullet in place while firing the gun. A revolver usually does not experience bullet setback like in a auto loader. The bullet will actually grow in length. Therefore a good firm roll crimp is needed. In an auto loader case tension is what is primarily used to hold the bullet in place and helps to prevent setback.

You're talking about using fancy expensive dies while loading bottle neck rifle cartridges on a progressive press. What lube do you plan on using that wont effect the powder? I remove all lube for this reason. I also trim after full length resizing for consistent crimp and functionality.
You're expensive dies for super accuracy in an intermediate cartridge while leaving lube on and not trimming dont jive.
Do you also plan on using the pro1000 to form your own cases?

I don't see why it wouldn't work for you, I thought you'd run into length issues, but I checked and 300 blackout has the same OAL as 223.
As was already said, you need full length die (no carbide), powder charging die, seater and crimper http://www.midwayusa.com/product/934...0-aac-blackout $34 and you're set.
