I'm looking for crony. Any suggestions? Is there one that can be used indoors as well as out?
Thanks.

I have the.....Uhhh......The green one, forgot the name but I like it!
Works well, its popular and upgradable, plus it folds up for easy storage/travel.
They work indoors but not under florescent lights.
Edit*
Mine is the blue one, Beta model.Last edited by RaisedByWolves; October 14th, 2010 at 08:56 AM.

Re: Chronographs
Whichever one you buy, be sure to get the remote control and display. Saves a lot of walking to the device to read it. It puts all the control and idsplay right next to you on the bench.
I have the Alpha Master. I like it.

Re: Chronographs
I have the little red Shooting Chrony Alpha. Seems to work just fine and I'm hoping someone will buy me a printer for Christmas. Be sure to get a good stout tripod to set it up on.
It can be used indoors with a special attachment for a light source sold sepately of course. Fluoresent lights won't work.

Re: Chronographs
Right, it needs a "constant" light, such as incandescent filament bulb which is like outdoor sunlight. Also, I learned that if you set it in the shade, it is OK; it does not need direct sunlight, but the light needs to be constant and significant. Mine does not like gray, cloudy days when it can fail to record a shot. ( "ERROR" frequently appears then.)
AND, I have learned that if you loose, misplace, or shoot away a standard for the screens, a 16" length of #9 steel wire is an exact replacement. Mine was a stray 9mm bullet, but it damaged nothing else.

Re: Chronographs
I had one of those chronys and it was junk. Then in the mid '90s I went out and bought a Pact Professional chrono, it came with long leads, built in balistic computer for drop charts and it had a printer too. It still works great.

CED is the standard used for USPSA http://www.cedhk.com/shop/products/C...graph-Set.html
Ther is an option for Infrared screens that are designed to use in an enclosed box. That eliminates all light varibles.Friends don't let friends buy Taurus's

Re: Chronographs
I have a Beta Master I picked up in the Bargin Cave at Cabela's. It has a phone type cable to the remote screen and is great to set on the bench to see the screen. I started using it inside to check arrow speed. I had no issues with 2 of 5 light bulbs being incandescent with the balance cfl. I have gotten several error codes shooting a 223. It seems to like the small fast bullets dead center between the shade wires. My uncle was/ is a br shooter and suggested pact, but I couldn't wait to have one shipped to me.

Re: Chronographs
Thanks for everyone's input... I will use it for mainly checking my reloads, and I have decided on getting the "Beta Master". I made my choice based on info I received here and from a couple of other chat sites.
