Default Unemployed - Looking for work Pittsburgh/East

If anyone knows of anyone hiring that pays well enough to survive on, let me know. East/Monroeville area.

Going to need health care benefits.

I'm a Graphic Artist/Graphic Designer, but anything will do if it pays the bills.

And some prayers would be helpful as well.
I've never been through this before.

Thanks.

Sorry to see you've been Obama'ed. Welcome to the club, I guess.

I'll send prayers your way, and I'll keep my eyes open. Granted, most of my searches are Pittsburgh and north, but if I see anything, I'll let you know.

Post up your years of experience and degree(s) if you don't mind...

Sorry to hear that EM.

Wish I could give you my job when I request a winter layoff.

I've gone through that a bunch of times as that is the nature of the construction industry. I got layed off 6 times one year and have been the victim of a one man lay off.

Good luck and I wish you a speedy return to the workforce. It looks like the economy is picking up a bit, so hopefully, you won't be off too long.

I'll ask if our company has any use for your type of skill

No, and now I'm kicking myself for not having done it before.
Thing is, I don't have any web design experience, I've only done print advertising.

If you, or anyone else knows a relatively simple way to put a page together to show my portfolio, I'm all ears. I started gathering pdf files of ads I've done for this very reason, but wasn't sure how to put a web page together.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Get your resume together and pound the pavement.

And don't forget to claim some of that Obamamoney.

You mention prayer. Here comes some advice, some will agree, some won't, your mileage may vary. It has worked well for me.
Find a church that you like. By "like" I mean can attend two to three times a week and it is a natural fit for you. You will know it when you find it. Your search may take one visit, or many months. Get to it. Once you have found it, COMMIT to being a contributing member.
Here comes the sneaky part. Volunteer. You mention Graphic artist/Graphic Designer as your way of contributing to the World. Volunteer to redesign the Church Bulletin, and any other documents they produce. The key word is "volunteer". Don't ask for or accept money for these efforts. Make it a point to 'pleasantly reject' any offer of money, but be sincere in this 'rejection' of any offered compensation.
God loves His children and wants to see them smile. You do something for Him and don't seek compensation, well, He finds a way to compensate you. This strategy works!! It is outlined in the Bible, therefore it is not only condoned by God, but He 'authored' the game plan I just laid out for you. You aren't going to find a more productive plan ANYWHERE.
I'll add you to my prayer list, but if you follow that advice, you won't need it for long. Bob
