Good idea. Do you live in oakland and/or go to Pitt or CMU?

I know I am in a different county ( Greene ) ... .but I walked in this morning and about 30 mins
later I was walking out with mine in hand .... I was suprised ... that it went that quickly ...
I guess living in a small rural county like Greene makes some stuff easier ...

Congrats on the permit...my wife dropped her app off on the 14th and I think the following Monday was a holiday, so that makes today the 9th day. I think it will come either tomorrow or Saturday.

Sorry, I missed this question.

I used to live in North Oakland but moved down the street to Friendship. I work for one of those schools but off campus (Downtown). I frequently travel back and forth and use the buses.
Any of the Oakland buses should be fine. Most come in on Forbes and leave on 5th. Frankly, for the sake of simplicity. I'd just get on the 71A. Get off at Forbes and Ross and you're at the Court House. Go to the Fifth Ave side entrance (archway with courtyard) and the firearms division is right inside the archway on the left.

If you enter from the front, you'll go through security and then right back through when you ask them which way to go, so, go to Fifth Ave side and avoid the hassle.

When you're done. Just go back through the Archyway on Fifth and wait for the next 71A (or other suitable bus) to take you back into Oakland.

ETA: I highly suggest going early. When I went for mine, I was there 15 minutes early and there was a line by the time they opened (Early December 2006). So, if you're pressed for time. I'd get there early. They open at 8. I'd budget 2 hours for the trip in, submission of application, wait and then trip out.

ETAII: I didn't realize you'd already been down there.

I was going to suggest a bus too.

rtmpgh, Yeah, I believe Washington county is like that too. But Allegheny has a "better" idea!

Yep, next time I head down it'll be to pick it up. I'll probably just have my roommate drop me off again, as I doubt it will take very long this time. All I have to do is take that card in, give them my money, and get my license. I'm still waiting on that card to come back to me in the mail though...hopefully sometime this week.
