I don't think you'll find a new Elite for under $900.00

If you want a DA/SA and the SRT, check out the Gen II SAS. It'll probably run you about $900 OTD when all is said and done.
If tails are your thing, go with the Elite. I think you'll be looking at close to $1000 OTD with that.

Either way, sounds like your wife will be pissed. Best thing to do is buy her something she wants first, then get the P229 you want .

Your other option (and if money is tight, this is what I'd do) look for a used P229 with the SRT already installed. They are getting more common (the SRT) and are easier to find these days. I see them come up regularly in the Sig Forum classifieds for around $600-$650 shipped.

Also check out Gun Broker or the other on-line auctions. The P229's are built like tanks. I'd have no problem buying a used one. Pick up a spring kit from Top Gun Supply for $30.00, and you'll be good to go.

I'll keep my eyes open for you. I usually run across good deals every now and then.

Good luck with your search.
The elite isn't that important to me, the only thing the elite has that I really want is the trigger. I could care less about the tail.
I've been looking on gunbroker but really didn't see anything on there in my price range that would warrant the PITA of finding a ffl to tranfer and buying online.
But I'll keep looking.

I would have no problem buying a used one if the money was right.

If you see something let me know.
Thanks again for all the advice everyone has given me, I really appreciate it.
