Re: Drugs + guns = DEATH!
It is debatable whether the controlled substance act(s) are useful or a hindrance. And especially when it comes to marijuana.
I happen to place marijuana in a class as alcohol personally. Though I don't use any drugs other than an occasional drink.
Where me must draw the line is illegal activities, as they are currently defined, and allowing firearms.
The reason is simple.
When you are conducting illegal business, no matter drug related or not, if someone cheats you, rips you off or whatever, you have no legal recourse.
Because the activity by legal definition is illegal, you can not bring suit in court.
So, justice is dealt with in a vigilante, vindictive style. This causes the punishers to go overboard as there are no checks and balances. Cheaters and snitches get killed or maimed. So do innocent people who are bystanders. It can go to the extreme of someone who resists arrest with deadly force because they cannot afford the 'third strike'.
So, whether you blame the unintended consequences of the law or the criminals themselves, the end result is that illicit activity and guns do not mix.
