Thanks for the quick replies. I appreciate the advice that this forum provides to me (and the information on the PAFOA.org site is fantastic and well-organized).

In the summer, I suspect that it will be a little more difficult to conceal a G.I. 1911A1 than a PPK/S; the ability to choose the best carry pistol will be a great convenience.
