Default Re: Anyone make a non magnifying scope?

Are you sure your astigmatism is the problem? I have severe astigmatism in my dominant eye and red dots work fine for me.

What I'm looking to verify is that you are using the red dot properly.

Look through a red dot sight.
Are you focusing on the target?
Are you using both eyes? IE: both eyes open.

If you focus on the dot (natural reaction when first trying a red dot) it will be blurred, ovaled, double, etc. You must focus on the target. Using one eye only tends to exasperate the tendency to focus on the dot and doesn't benefit the sighting system anyway.

If this is the case the best way to get "over" the problem is to practice a bit as follows:
Hold gun/scope in a low ready position. Focus on a target of some sort (spot on the wall, whatever) Bring the gun/scope up into your field of view while consciously keeping both eyes open and keeping your focus on the target. Let the dot just come into view.
