Question 1943 Lee Enfield No.4 Mk 1 SCOPE?!?

I bought the 'ol Enfield a while ago and recently purchased a scope and bipod for it. However when I mounted the scope and took it out for a shoot, the shells kept trying to eject but to my dismay only got caught on the scope mount which lies above the bolt. The shell just fell back in!?! I love the scope and want to use it but, with the poorly designed overhead aftermarket mount my rifle cant do it's job. Can't even use stripper clips when the scopes on any way--thats no fun. Now, my main point should I leave it in its simple state of glory, or....can any of you help me find an original scope w/side mount from a "T" model. Don't get me wrong now I just love the flip sight but you know, since it is effective up to 1,000 meters I want to utilize its' respective potential.

    Kilroy,
You are going to spend big bucks on an original sniper scope and mounts. I have a scope mounted on a sporterized Enfield. The cases are ejected without any problems.

I believe it's effective range is around 550 meters. Maximum range is around 2000 meters. The "Volley Sight" was a hold over from WWI. The theory behind this was "raining" thousands of rounds from a group fire using the volley sights (set to range) onto an enemy massing a charge.

I would not waste the time and money on an original T scope mount. When the British built a T model, each mount was fitted by hand and serialized to the rifle. This was done because they were not interchangeable for zeroing. Besides you are looking at big money! And depending of what you are going to do with the rifle, I would try and solve the problem you have.

Posting pics of the mount and rifle may help us help you. If the round is hitting the mount, maybe trimming the mount will help. An original No 4 Mk I T has the scope offset to the left side to allow for easy loading and ejecting.

No personal experience, and it looks way, way uncomfortably high for my tastes, but I doubt that your empties would hang up on the knobs, for sure.

I used an after market mount on my #4 also, and never had any problems at all.
    Everything ejected fine.
As far as the stripper clips went, I always pulled my mag and loaded it that way, even prior to scope mount when I had access to loading it with strippers. I never liked the stripper clips.

I have that same mount on my sportster enfield & it does sit VERY high. I had to go buy an adjustable cheek weld for it to come close to working.
If you're not outraged & disgusted, you are simply not paying atttention
