Default Re: FYI senate judiciary committee hearing on HB1845

Well the time is running out of this bill before the senate adjourns.

Fall Session Days: (Days the legislature will be in session in Harrisburg before the end of the current legislative session. Any bill not passed by both chambers when they recess for the year, will be dead. These bills would have to be re-introduced after January and start the entire process again from scratch.)

HOUSE left in session
October 6, 7, 8
November 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25

There is ONLY 3 days left in the senate Oct 6, 7 & 8

Also this HB 1845 has to go back over to the house for a concurrence vote and as you can see there are only 10 days left in the house for this to occur.

Our favorite Pro-gun Governor - ( NOT ) has pulled everything in the dirty trick play book on this one behind the scenes to make this bill into something we can not support.

Our governor antics is the main reason Kim Stolfer has not sent out a blast email alert for everyone to contact their senators to urge them for passage.

Kim and others are trying very hard to strip the bad parts (new amendments & rewrites pending) from this legislation so we can run the clean version passed by house in the Senate.

Here was the pre tampered with version that was ready to run on June 10, 2008 for the fall. It was not perfect by any means from a gun owners stand point, but most of the stuff we could have lived with and its much better protection than we have right now in PA law.

Here is just a small part of the senate proposed amendment changes - I don't know if it was strip or not but it was in regard with the DNCR and firearms regulation inconsistent with state law notice how two words would be worse than it in now and change the meaning of everything.

Quote:
19 (2) Authorize any Commonwealth agency to regulate the

20 possession of firearms in any manner inconsistent with the

21 provisions of this title Otherwise grant, expand or limit the
authority of any Commonwealth agency to regulate the possession of firearms
Orginal bill

Most gun owners have NO Idea of the tremendous efforts that Kim Stolfer and Many Others spend fighting this legislative battle behind the scenes to protect and try to get some of the negative anti-gun legislation rolled back.

Rest assured as soon as I know something you will no something about HB 1845
I have a call into Kim Stolfer right now as this was posted
