If possible get the safe out of the basement .I realize this may not be possible, however if it is then do it. The worse place in the world to store firearms is in a basement for this very reason.

I have dessicant packs in my cabinet and that along with the central air unit in our house keeps all moisture at bay. I recharge the packs once or twice a year by baking them in the oven at low heat for several hours. Have never had a rust issue by doing this.

Again if possible, get the safe to higher ground.
