Years ago I was on a jury in Lackawanna Criminal Court. During the voir dire part of jury selection the question of expungments was raised. Judge Corbett replied " If you have an expungment, it never happened, no need to mention it"
Having said that, I have heard the the PSP are real hard asses about removing data from their database. Even though a charge has been expunged, sometimes the arrest record still pops up with no disposition of the case shown.
It is best to spend the 10 bucks and check for yourself
