the person doing the paperwork is providing all the stuff, all the Sheriff has to do is sign the form, and date it.

whats a ballpoint BIC cost, and how many sigs can you get out of one?
Well, you have to pick your battles. There are thousands of Philadelphia and MontCo and I'm sure residents of other places, who would leap at the chance to pay a nominal fee and get a signature.

I admit that it's like being grateful that someone just spit on you instead of stabbing you, but in the grand scheme of NFA, it's a minor speed bump. Pay $200 for the tax stamp, $10,000 for the average MG, and $10 or $20 for a signature isn't worth getting excited over.

In an ideal world, new MG's would cost $700, the Feds wouldn't tax the exercise of your Constitutional rights, and we could bitch about any fees for the routine (and mandatory) Sheriff's confirmation of what is readily determinable from other sources. We don't live there yet. When I'm Benevolent Dictator of the United States, this will all change.
