The law is that you MUST take a hunter/trapper safety education course in order to be eligable for for a PA hunting license. Most issuers belive that if you're over 18, you can get a license. This is not true. The requirement is hard to police, but you'd look like a total ass if someone actually did ask you to present your license from the previous year or your HTE card.

Also, if you plan on hunting doe, you will need to seperately submit a request for a doe tag in the WMU that you wish to hunt in. The first day they accept applications is usually in early August, and you'll definitely want to have your application there by then. Doe tags go fast, especially in WMU's in the northern/central part of the state. I get mine to 2G and they sell out of them on the first day.
