It is my understanding that the actual class cost is considerably more than the $80 application fee.

I was going to look into this training as well for part time work after I retire.

I have not done the research but possible costs to consider:

Application fee. $80.25
cost for background check
Possible cost to get fingerprinted.
cost for eye exam
cost for a physical
cost for psychological exam
cost of equipment prior to class (gun, holster,ammo)
cost of training to act235 school.

Perhaps some of these costs are not an issue with certain healthcare plans but do the research to find out what you have to pay for.
