Similar arrogance is what killed Montgomery Wards. Guys go to the WalMart with the gals because they know they can browse the sporting goods section and check out the hunting stuff. Arrogant WalMart executives who don't think fishing and hunting stuff is a major draw to their stores are clueless.
Guys used to go to Montgomery Wards with the gals to check out the hunting stuff, and the tools, and lawn mowers. When Wards got rid of the sporting goods (guns) and hardware (paint) and car care stuff they slowly went bankrupt. Who would of thought a major store like Montgomery Wards could kill itself?
Actions like this can alienate the catalyst that brings business to the store. The guys might not buy a gun today, but the wife is filling the shopping cart with housewares and clothes for the kids while Dad drools over a new shotgun.
I've bought my last gun at WalMart.
