Default Re: Wicens Support Shoot

I'm glad I went anyway. Great place! Nice, friendly and helpful staff. I only remember three peoples names: Two different Joe's and Bill. Talked with Bill for quite a while.

I was there from about 12:30 to 3:30. The weather ended up cooperating and the range was not muddy at all, just slightly damp. They built new "boxes" at some of the benches to prevent the muzzle from rising too much, and had the ones with no boxes closed off temporarily. Didn't seem to negatively affect anything while I was shooting my 556.

I only had a chance to shoot the 556 at 50 yards since I wanted to "qualify" as a pistol shooter that day as well. Qualifying is quite simple. An RO simply watches you to make sure you are not dangerous or stupid. Then, he signs your tag so the next time you can just go to the line and shoot.

I have to say, after being there, I can't see how PhillyShooters brother-in-law could have possibly shot that house. I call BS. Those F'ing NIMBYs just want the range shut down because they were too stupid/lazy to find out that a shooting range has been there for like 70 years. Something is very fishy, indeed.

After shooting there, I must admit that I feel safer there than any indoor range I've shot at. They really stress safety at Wicen's. Also, a nice bonus (at least when I was there) is the fact that there weren't any wannabe gangsta-type people there. I seem to run into them all too often when I go to the indoor ranges. You know the type. Hat on backwards, poor English, every other word is a curse, etc. I'm guessing this has to do with the location of the range. Far enough away from Philly, but not too far.

I plan on going back to Wicen's many times.
